A $200 million dollar yacht.

This morning I had to go get a security badge so that I can have access to the piers in Honolulu Harbor (they actually gave me one!) and on my way home I saw the most beautiful ship I have ever seen docked where the cruise ships usually sit. Because of my new credentials, I was able to get pretty close to it and ask the security guards what it was and who it belonged to. They were very tight lipped but mentioned that it cost $200 million dollars and had just sailed in from Tahiti. I also noted three stars on the bow and thought that might serve to identify it if there were actually more than one of these very expensive beauties in existence.

Based on that information and the photos I found with it, I am fairly certain that the ship is Perini Navi Maltese Falcon.

This amazing vessel was commissioned to be built by Tom Perkins a venture capitalist & Hewlett Packard Computer’s GM. The yacht was a five year project for boat designer/builder Fabio Perini & Perkins and is FAST!

Here’s the specs:

And here is the link to where I found all this information:

Now, let’s take a second to consider what else the money spent of this magnificent creation could have bought…and then let’s all hope that someday we can take a ride on such a marvel even if it means getting initiated by the Captain when you cross the line.

Ships Log

Actually, I’ve just confirmed that this is indeed the vessel. Maybe they can take me on as crew when I graduate in December…it’s worth asking.
